CTK – Remembrance – Prayer Resources

Hello everyone, welcome back to CTKPray. The prayer theme for this week is REMEMBRANCE.

Remembrance is an important part of our faith. We remember the saints, those who have died, and the events of our history. Remembrance helps us to reflect on how those who’ve gone before us have shaped and inspired our lives today.

This Sunday we entered into the 32nd week in Ordinary time.
Ordinary Time in the Catholic Church refers to the liturgical period outside of the major seasons of Advent, Christmas, Lent, and Easter. It is a time of growth and reflection on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, rather than a specific event like His birth or resurrection. The name “Ordinary” comes from the Latin word “ordo,” meaning “order,” referring to the numbered weeks that make up this season.

During this liturgical period the colour is green to show growth in the church and as a individual

This week we celebrate:

Monday 11th November – Remembrance Day. Saint Martin of Tours
Tuesday 12th November – Saint Josaphat- Liturgical colour Red due to Saint Josaphat being a Martyr
Friday 15th November – Saint Albert the Great
Saturday 16th November – Saint Margaret of Scotland. Saint Gertrude. Saint Edmund of Abingdon.

Please note that the responses in red are for everyone to join in with.

Use these videos our on the theme of “REMEMBRANCE”. These videos help us to feel unity as a church and stand up for those in need.

Visio Divina, meaning “Divine Seeing,” is a form of prayer in the Catholic Church that involves contemplating religious images or art to encounter God. It is similar to Lectio Divina (sacred reading), but instead of focusing on scripture, the participant meditates on visual representations, such as icons, paintings, or stained glass. The process usually involves several steps: gazing at the image, meditating on its meaning, praying in response to what is seen, and contemplating how the image speaks to one’s life. This practice deepens spiritual insight and fosters a connection with the divine through sacred imagery.

Spend time in prayer to remember those people who are important to us and who are no longer with us.

Lord, grant them eternal rest,
And may Your perpetual light shine upon them.
May they rest in peace, embraced by Your mercy.
Comfort the families and communities who still feel the pain of their loss,
And give them strength and solace.

We pray for all victims of war,
For those who lived through the horrors and those who still bear the scars.
Guide us, O Lord, to be instruments of Your peace,
So that the sacrifices of the past will not be in vain,
But will inspire us to work for a world where justice, compassion, and reconciliation prevail.

May the memory of their courage lead us to reject war and strive always for peace,
Following the teachings of Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.
We entrust our prayers to You, in the hope of a future free from conflict,
Where Your love binds all humanity together. Amen.
