CTK – Accompaniment – Prayer Resources

Hello everyone, welcome back to CTKPray. The prayer theme for this week is ACCOMPANIMENT.

Accompaniment is the act of walking with someone on their journey. It is how we, as followers of Christ, show support and love for others. We are called to accompany others on their journey of faith, both in good times and in bad, just as the Holy Spirit watches over each of us in our own lives.

This Sunday we entered into the 31st week in Ordinary time.
Ordinary Time in the Catholic Church refers to the liturgical period outside of the major seasons of Advent, Christmas, Lent, and Easter. It is a time of growth and reflection on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, rather than a specific event like His birth or resurrection. The name “Ordinary” comes from the Latin word “ordo,” meaning “order,” referring to the numbered weeks that make up this season.

During this liturgical period the colour is green to show growth in the church and as a individual

This week we celebrate:

Monday 4th November- Saint Charles Borromeo
Thursday 7th November- Saint Willibrord
Saturday 9th November- The dedication of the Lateran Basilica

Please note that the responses in red are for everyone to join in with.

Mark 12:28-34 Sunday’s Gospel

Luke 24:13-35

Exodus 3:15-20

A reading from the book of Exodus

God also said to Moses, “Say this to the people of Israel, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is my name for ever, and thus I am to be remembered throughout all generations. Go and gather the elders of Israel together and say to them, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, has appeared to me, saying, “I have observed you and what has been done to you in Egypt, and I promise that I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, a land flowing with milk and honey.”’ And they will listen to your voice, and you and the elders of Israel shall go to the king of Egypt and say to him, ‘The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us; and now, please let us go a three days’ journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the Lord our God.’ But I know that the king of Egypt will not let you go unless compelled by a mighty hand. So I will stretch out my hand and strike Egypt with all the wonders that I will do in it; after that he will let you go.

Use these videos our on the theme of “Accompaniment”. These videos help us to feel unity as a church and stand up for those in need.

Visio Divina, meaning “Divine Seeing,” is a form of prayer in the Catholic Church that involves contemplating religious images or art to encounter God. It is similar to Lectio Divina (sacred reading), but instead of focusing on scripture, the participant meditates on visual representations, such as icons, paintings, or stained glass. The process usually involves several steps: gazing at the image, meditating on its meaning, praying in response to what is seen, and contemplating how the image speaks to one’s life. This practice deepens spiritual insight and fosters a connection with the divine through sacred imagery.

Think about the people who walk with you in life. Take time this week to tell them how much they mean to you.

Loving God,
You are our constant companion,
walking beside us in every moment of our lives.
In times of joy and sorrow, light and darkness,
we feel Your guiding hand,
steadying us, comforting us, and leading us forward.

Lord Jesus,
You who walked with the disciples on the road to Emmaus,
open our hearts to recognize Your presence beside us.
Fill us with the grace to be companions to others,
to listen deeply, to share in their joys and burdens,
and to bring the light of Your love wherever we go.

Holy Spirit,
our Divine Helper and Counselor,
fill us with the wisdom to know when to speak and when to be silent,
when to offer comfort and when to simply be present.
Inspire us to walk humbly with those in need,
to build up those who are weary,
and to rejoice with those who celebrate.

God of Compassion,
help us to be faithful in our call to accompany others.
May our presence reflect Your love and peace.
And as we accompany one another on this journey of faith,
may we draw closer to You, our eternal companion,
who lives and reigns with the Son and the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever.

Amen.
