An experiment on Gratitude

During this week, we have reflected on the importance of gratitude. Gratitude helps us recognise the many blessings God has given us and encourages us to appreciate the kindness, love, and support we receive from others. When we take time to give thanks, our hearts become more joyful, generous, and aware of God’s presence in our lives. Living with gratitude helps us grow in faith and strengthens our relationships with God and one another.

C – Care

Gratitude begins with care. When we appreciate the people who care for us, we are inspired to show kindness and compassion in return. By caring for others and recognising their value, we express our thankfulness through our actions.

A – Achieve

Gratitude encourages us to make the most of the gifts and opportunities God has given us. When we use our talents wisely and work hard, we show our appreciation for His blessings and strive to make a positive difference in the world.

R – Respect

Gratitude helps us to respect others by recognising the unique gifts and qualities God has given each person. When we treat everyone with dignity, listen carefully, and value their contributions, we create a community where thankfulness and kindness can flourish.

E – Encourage

Gratitude inspires us to encourage others. A kind word, a simple thank you, or recognising someone’s efforts can brighten their day and remind them that they are valued. By encouraging one another, we share God’s love and help build a joyful, supportive community.

This week in school, our theme is Gratitude

Gratitude means recognising and giving thanks for the many blessings we receive each day. Everything we have is a gift from God, from the people who love and care for us to the opportunities we are given to learn, grow, and serve others. When we choose to be thankful, we become more aware of God’s goodness in our lives and are inspired to share that goodness with those around us. A grateful heart helps us to live with joy, kindness, and generosity.

Conversation Starters

Use these questions to start a chat together:

  • What are three things each member of our family is thankful to God for today?
  • How can showing gratitude change the way we treat the people around us?
  • What is one way our family can say “thank you” to someone who has helped or cared for us this week?

Prayer

Father,

Thank You for the many blessings You pour into our lives each day.

Thank You for our family, our friends, our school, and for all those who care for us.

Help us to notice the gifts You have given us, even in the small moments, and to always have grateful hearts.

Teach us to show our thankfulness through kindness, generosity, and love, so that others may see Your goodness through us.

May we never take Your blessings for granted and always remember to give You thanks.

Amen.

Mission

Together, choose something to do:

  • As a family, create a gratitude jar. Throughout the week, write down something you are thankful for each day and read them together at the end of the week.
  • Think of someone who has made a difference in your life, such as a teacher, neighbour, friend, or family member. Write them a thank-you note or tell them how much you appreciate them.
  • At the end of each day this week, take turns sharing one thing you are grateful for and thank God together in prayer for His many blessings.
