CTK – Alleluia – Prayer Resources – W/C 21/4/2025
Hello everyone, and welcome back to CTKPray. The prayer theme for this week is Alleluia.
Alleluia is a proclamation of joy, gratitude, and praise that strengthens our relationship with God and deepens our faith. It is an expression of love that reflects our willingness to rejoice in His presence and acknowledge His blessings with a grateful heart. Just as thanksgiving teaches us to recognise God’s providence, alleluia invites us to embrace joy and celebrate His goodness. During Easter, alleluia is a way of uniting ourselves with Christ’s victory over death, reminding us that true discipleship is marked by hope, renewal, and a heart open to sharing God’s love with the world.
Season of Eastertide
This week, we reflect on the power of Alleluia during Eastertide—a season to rejoice in the Risen Christ, embrace His victory, and make room for His presence in our lives.
Eastertide calls us to step into the joy of the Resurrection, leaving behind sorrow and embracing the new life Christ has won for us. Alleluia is not just a word of praise; it is a proclamation of faith, a song of gratitude, and a testament to God’s unending love. By lifting our hearts in joy and thanksgiving, we grow in hope, strengthen our faith, and open our souls more fully to the radiance of God’s glory.
By embracing Alleluia this season, we allow God’s light to shine within us, transforming our hearts, deepening our trust, and filling us with the unshakable joy of His Resurrection.
Below you will find the weekly readings from Sunday’s mass and scriptures taken from the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament on the theme of Alleluia.

First reading Acts 10: 34. 37-43
34 So Peter opened his mouth and said: “Truly I understand that God shows no partiality,
37 you yourselves know what happened throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee after the baptism that John proclaimed: 38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him. 39 And we are witnesses of all that he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They put him to death by hanging him on a tree, 40 but God raised him on the third day and caused him to appear, 41 not to all the people but to us who had been chosen by God as witnesses, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. 42 And he commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one appointed by God to be judge of the living and the dead. 43 To him all the prophets bear witness that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.”
Gospel Reading John 20: 1-9
Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb. So she ran and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him.” So Peter went out with the other disciple, and they were going towards the tomb. Both of them were running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. And stooping to look in, he saw the linen cloths lying there, but he did not go in. Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying there, and the face cloth, which had been on Jesus’ head, not lying with the linen cloths but folded up in a place by itself. Then the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed; for as yet they did not understand the Scripture, that he must rise from the dead.
Hebrew Bible Psalm 25: 1-3
New Testament Revelation 19: 1-21
After this I heard what seemed to be the loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, crying out,
“Hallelujah!
Salvation and glory and power belong to our God,
for his judgements are true and just;
for he has judged the great prostitute
who corrupted the earth with her immorality,
and has avenged on her the blood of his servants.”Once more they cried out,
“Hallelujah!
The smoke from her goes up for ever and ever.”And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshipped God who was seated on the throne, saying, “Amen. Hallelujah!” And from the throne came a voice saying,
“Praise our God,
all you his servants,
you who fear him,
small and great.”Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the roar of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out,
“Hallelujah!
For the Lord our God
the Almighty reigns.
Let us rejoice and exult
and give him the glory,
for the marriage of the Lamb has come,
and his Bride has made herself ready;
it was granted her to clothe herself
with fine linen, bright and pure”—for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints.
And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God.” Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said to me, “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God.” For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war. His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself. He is clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God. And the armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses. From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the wine press of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.
Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and with a loud voice he called to all the birds that fly directly overhead, “Come, gather for the great supper of God, to eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all men, both free and slave, both small and great.” And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth with their armies gathered to make war against him who was sitting on the horse and against his army. And the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who in its presence had done the signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshipped its image. These two were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulphur. And the rest were slain by the sword that came from the mouth of him who was sitting on the horse, and all the birds were gorged with their flesh.
Visio Divina, meaning “Divine Seeing,” is a form of prayer in the Catholic Church that involves contemplating religious images or art to encounter God. It is similar to Lectio Divina (sacred reading), but instead of focusing on scripture, the participant meditates on visual representations, such as icons, paintings, or stained glass. The process usually involves several steps: gazing at the image, meditating on its meaning, praying in response to what is seen, and contemplating how the image speaks to one’s life. This practice deepens spiritual insight and fosters a connection with the divine through sacred imagery.

Here are some song suggestions that you could use in your Celebration of the word…
Your mission this week is to … Spend time rejoicing this week and make a real effort to celebrate the Easter season with family and friends.
As we continue our Easter journey, let us take a moment to reflect on the gift of Alleluia. Just as prayer deepens our faith, Alleluia fills us with joy, gratitude, and a heart that rejoices in the victory of Christ. It is through this proclamation of praise that we embrace the new life Christ has given us and allow His light to shine through us.
Let us turn to God with open hearts, seeking His grace and renewal as we lift our voices in Alleluia, uniting ourselves more fully with the Risen Lord.
Heavenly Father,
In this sacred season of Easter, draw us closer to You through Alleluia.
Help us to rejoice fully in Your love, recognizing Your presence in our lives and trusting in the hope of the Resurrection.
Teach us to proclaim Your goodness with joyful hearts, to embrace renewal, and to reflect Your light through our words and actions.
May our Alleluia open our hearts, strengthen our faith, and deepen our love for You and for all Your children.Through Jesus Christ, our Risen Lord.
Amen.
