CST – The Common Good

During Lent, we remember the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and are invited to follow his example by serving others with love and humility.

C – Community
When we make sacrifices that strengthen our community we help others, sharing what we have, and supporting those who may be in need.

A – Achieve
We can achieve positive changes by sacrificing something small and using our time, talents, or resources to make a difference in someone else’s life.

R – Respect
We can show respect to everyone we meet, remembering that every person is loved by God and deserves kindness, patience, and understanding.

E – Encounter
We will seek opportunities to encounter Christ in others through acts of sacrifice, prayer, and compassion, especially with those who need help or encouragement.

Here are some song suggestions that you could use this week

This week in school, our theme is Sacrifice.

During Lent, we reflect on the sacrifice of Jesus and what it means for our lives. The sacrifice of Jesus is a reminder that we are all loved by God, and that we too are called to live our lives for others as humble servants. Sacrifice is a way to show our love for God and our commitment to living a
life that reflects his values.

Conversation Starters

Use these questions to start a chat together:

What does the word “sacrifice” mean to you?

How does Jesus’ sacrifice show us how much God loves us?

Have you ever given something up or helped someone even when it was difficult? How did it feel?

Reflection

Lord

When I am feeling anxious or overwhelmed,

remind me of Your sacrifice and the peace that it brings.

Help me to trust in Your love and care for me.

In Jesus’ name

Amen

Mission

Together, choose something to do:

  • As a family, choose something small to sacrifice for a week (for example: sweets, takeaways, or screen time). Use the money or time saved to help someone in need — donate to a charity, buy food for a food bank, or support a local cause.
  • Give up some free time to serve others. You could help a neighbour out, visit or call someone who may feel lonely, volunteer or donate to a local food bank
  • Sacrifice a little time each week to pray together as a family.
You could read a short passage from the Bible about Jesus’ sacrifice, pray for people who are suffering or spend some time reflecting on how your family can show love and kindness during Lent.
