CTK – Outreach – Prayer Resources – W/C 14/09/2026

Hello everyone, and welcome back to CTK Pray and a new school year.

The prayer theme for this week is Outreach (Week 24 in the Season of Ordinary Time – Year A)

Please choose one of these Grace prayer to say at the start of afternoon registration.

In a few weeks these will be replaced by our school Grace prayer that will be written by you all.

  • We give you thanks, Almighty God,
for our food and all your gifts
    which we have received
    through Christ our Lord. Amen
  • Lord our God, we thank you for the bread you give us. Help us to share what we have with those who are most in need. Bless us with generosity and justice. Amen.
  • Father of mercy,
we praise you and give you glory
for the wonderful gifts you have given us:
for life and health, for faith and love,
and for this meal we have shared together. Amen
  • Father, for our food
we thank you, and for our joys:
help us to love you more. Amen

Every prayer time begins with us gathering together.
To help you to focus, you might dim the lights, light a candle or move a cross or religious object to the front. You might like to play this instrumental music to help create a calm atmosphere.

Choose someone to lead your prayer time.

As we begin this time of prayer together, we invite you to join in making the sign of our faith:
All: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Turn over the new page in the Extra-Ordo-Nary flip book.

Read the theme and talk about what this word means to you as a form or in pairs.

Outreach is about taking our faith into the world, sharing God’s love with those who need it most. What might this look like at school or at home or in our community?

Watch the video – how are these people reaching out to people?

Leader:

Lord God,
Help us to see those around us who need our care.
Give us the courage to reach out, listen and help,
especially to those who feel lonely or left out.

May our words and actions show your love
and help us to make a difference in the world around us.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

We finish this time of prayer together, by making the Sign of the Cross.
All: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Today, we reflect on our theme of Outreach. Outreach means looking beyond ourselves and reaching out to people who may need our help, friendship or support. As Christians, we are called to share God’s love through the way we treat and care for others.

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew.
Glory to you, O Lord.

When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’

The Gospel of the Lord.
Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

This Gospel reminds us that outreach is about putting our faith into action. Jesus challenges us to notice people who might be struggling, lonely or in need, and to do something to help. Even simple things like listening, including someone or showing kindness can make a difference — because when we care for others, we are also showing love to Jesus.

Reflective Questions

You may choose to discuss these as a form, in pairs/groups or take a moment for quiet reflection.

  • Who around you might need you to reach out to them, even in a small way?
  • How can your actions towards others show God’s love?
  • What is one thing you could do this week to make a difference to someone else?

Let us pray…

Lord Jesus,
Help us to see the people around us who need our help, friendship or support.
Give us the courage to reach out, even when it feels easier to walk past.
Remind us that when we care for others, we are showing your love.
Help us to notice the small things we can do each day to make a difference.

Amen.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit Amen.

Let us take some time today to respond and reflect on our theme of Outreach.

Outreach means looking beyond ourselves, noticing when others need help and making sure everyone feels valued and included. This links to Catholic Social Teaching which reminds us that every person has dignity and deserves to be treated with care and respect.

When we say a grace prayer before or after a meal, we are not only giving thanks for our food. We can also remember people who don’t have enough, those who feel lonely or excluded and those who need our support.

Today as a form, you are going to suggest ideas for a school grace that reminds us to be thankful for what we have and challenges us to think about others. Once we have everyone’s ideas, we will create a whole school grace that everyone will say as they begin afternoon registration.

Please email your ideas to [email protected]

Walsingham House forms – some of you could also spend some time today planning and writing your Mass parts for your upcoming House Mass (on 24th September)

Let us pray

Loving God,

Thank you for the food that we will eat today
and for all those who provide it.

Help us to remember those who do not have enough,
and those who feel lonely or left out.

Remind us that every person has dignity
and is loved by you.

Help us to share what we have,
look out for others
and reach out to those in need.

Amen.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen

Your mission this week is to think about how our CARE mission statement can be linked to our prayer theme on Outreach.
For example
Care: Notice someone who might be lonely or struggling and make time to listen, include or support them.

Achieve: Use your skills and time to make a difference — volunteer, help with a charity or take on a role that serves others.

Respect: Make everyone feel valued and welcome, especially people who may feel left out or different.

Encounter: Look for opportunities to encounter Jesus in the people you meet, remembering: “as you did it to one of the least of these… you did it to me.”

Your mission is to think of your own version of this (you can use the one above to help you) and to write this on your Form Time Mission poster. Display this on your form board so that everyone can see it. Try to follow these missions throughout the week.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father

We pray for our community and everyone who is part of it.
Help us to work together so that everyone feels valued, included and supported.
Guide us to stand up for what is right and to look out for those who are struggling or in need.
Help us to make our community a place where everyone can flourish and we can live out our school Mission.

Amen

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen

Goodness Of God (Lyrics) ~ Bethel Music

This week in school, our theme is Outreach.
Our faith doesn’t just stay within the walls of the church; it’s meant to be shared. Outreach is about taking our faith into the world, sharing God’s love with those who need it most. This could be through volunteering at a shelter, visiting the elderly, or simply being a listening ear to a friend. When we reach out to others, we not only serve them, but we also strengthen our own faith and connection to God.

Conversation Starters

Use these questions to start a chat together:

  • When have we experienced someone reaching out to us when we needed support, and how did it make us feel?
  • Who might feel like an outsider in our community and how could we help them feel welcome?
  • What can we learn from Jesus about the way we treat people who are struggling or in need?

Prayer

Lord God,
Help us to see those around us who need our care.
Give us the courage to reach out, listen and help,
especially to those who feel lonely or left out.

May our words and actions show your love
and help us to make a difference in the world around us.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen

Mission

Together, choose one simple act to do together:

  • As a family, think about someone who might be lonely, new or going through a difficult time. Send them a message, give them a call or simply spend some time with them.
  • Challenge everyone in the family to do one kind thing for someone else during the week — helping a neighbour, including someone, sharing, or simply listening.
  • Find a simple way to help in your local community, such as supporting a food bank, helping a neighbour, visiting someone who is lonely or taking part in a community or parish activity.
  • Welcome back! The chapel is open most break and lunch times, we would love to see you.
