Sunday Gospel Reading Matthew 9:36-10:8
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew
Glory to you O Lord
When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into his harvest.”
And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every affliction. The names of the twelve apostles are these: first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; Simon the Cananaean, and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.
These twelve Jesus sent out, instructing them, “Go nowhere among the Gentiles and enter no town of the Samaritans, but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And proclaim as you go, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You received without paying; give without pay.

Prayer Theme Scripture Mark 16:14-16
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Mark
Glory to you, O Lord
Afterwards he appeared to the eleven themselves as they were reclining at table, and he rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they had not believed those who saw him after he had risen. And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

Nottingham Diocese Mission Plan
Bishop Patrick is asking young people a direct question: will you help shape the future of this Diocese?
The Diocesan Youth Forum is a new group of young Catholics aged 15 to 25 from across the Diocese of Nottingham, working directly with Bishop Patrick to shape how we live out the Mission Plan, ‘Go, Make Disciples’. This is not a consultation exercise. Forum members will meet with the Bishop, deliver real projects, and see their ideas make a difference.

What is Missionary Discipleship
Watch this video and talk about who is on the margins in our community? How can we be missionary disciples to them?
During this week, we have reflected on the call to be missionary disciples. Jesus invites us not only to follow Him but also to share His love with others through our words and actions. As missionary disciples, we are called to live our faith with joy, courage, and compassion, helping to make a positive difference in our school and wider community.
C – Care
Missionary disciples care for others as Jesus did. Through kindness, compassion, and service, we show God’s love to those around us and help build a caring community.
A – Achieve
Missionary disciples use their gifts and talents to do their best and serve others. We are encouraged to work hard, grow in faith, and make a positive contribution to the world.
R – Respect
Missionary disciples recognise that every person is loved by God. We show respect by listening, welcoming others, and treating everyone with dignity and kindness.
E – Encounter
Missionary disciples encounter Jesus through prayer, worship, and service. As we grow closer to Him, we are inspired to share His love and hope with others each day.
Here are some song suggestions that you could use this week
This week in school, our theme is the Missionary Discipleship
Missionary Discipleship is the call to share our faith with others. It reminds us to go out and share the love of Christ with others, to make the world a better place. Missionary Discipleship is a way of life that is full of joy and hope and in living our life in this way we can bring others to encounter Christ through us.
Conversation Starters
Use these questions to start a chat together:
Jesus told His disciples to “go and make disciples of all nations.” What do you think this means for us today? How can we share the message of Jesus in our everyday lives?
Who has helped you grow in your faith, and what did they do to inspire you? How can we be a positive example of faith for others?
What challenges might people face when living as missionary disciples? How can prayer, courage, and support from others help us to share Christ’s love and hope with confidence?
Prayer
Father, You invite each of us to share in the life and ministry of Your Son. Send Your Holy Spirit to transform our hearts into a welcoming community of missionary disciples. Teach us how to hear Jesus, to love Jesus, and to share the gift of Your salvation with everyone we meet. Help us to actively build Your kingdom right here at home. Guide our steps and make our efforts fruitful for Your glory. Amen
Mission
Together, choose something to do:
Mission of Kindness
As a family, choose one person who may need some encouragement this week. Write a card, send a message, or carry out a small act of kindness to let them know they are valued and cared for.
Mission of Faith
Spend a few minutes together in prayer each day. Pray for someone who is struggling, for your local community, or for people around the world who need hope and support – prayer is a way of sharing God’s love.
Mission of Service
Work together to serve others in a practical way. This could be helping a neighbour, supporting a local charity, donating food to a food bank, or taking on an extra household task without being asked. Reflect afterwards on how serving others helps us live as missionary disciples.
