Prayer
Prayer
Gracious and faithful God,
In the quiet of this moment, we turn our hearts to You.
Thank You for the gift of prayer —
for the way it draws us closer to You
and reminds us that we are never alone.Teach us to pray with honesty and trust.
When words are hard to find,
hear the whispers of our hearts.
When life feels busy and noisy,
help us to pause and remember that You are near.May prayer become the rhythm of our days —
in our thoughts, our actions, and our choices.
In moments of joy, let us praise You.
In moments of struggle, let us lean on You.
In moments of doubt, strengthen our faith.Shape us through our time with You.
Fill us with Your peace,
renew us with Your love,
and send us out to reflect Your light in the world. We place all that we are into Your hands,
trusting that You listen, You care, and You guide.Amen.
Take a quiet moment now to reflect on the word Prayer and what it means for you in your life today.

Sunday Gospel Reading Matthew 4:1-11
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew
Glory to you O Lord
Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And after fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. And the tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.” But he answered, “It is written,
“‘Man shall not live by bread alone,
but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
Then the devil took him to the holy city and set him on the pinnacle of the temple and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written,
“‘He will command his angels concerning you’,
and
“‘On their hands they will bear you up,
lest you strike your foot against a stone.’”
Jesus said to him, “Again it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’” Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to him, “All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me.” Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone, Satan! For it is written,
“‘You shall worship the Lord your God
and him only shall you serve.’”
Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and were ministering to him.

Prayer Theme Scripture Matthew 6: 5-15
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew
Glory to you O Lord
“And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
“And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. Pray then like this:
“Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Prayer Partners
This week, each student will be randomly given a Prayer Partner from our form. You will pray for this person every day during the Week of Prayer and continue throughout Lent.
Keep your partner’s name private.
Pray for their wellbeing, happiness, challenges, and growth. You may also carry out small, quiet acts of kindness if appropriate.
Why are we doing this?
- It helps us think of others, not just ourselves.
- It builds stronger community within our form.
- It reflects the true meaning of Lent — prayer, growth, and compassion.
Reflection
Pick one of the songs in the music tab to listen to.
As individuals or as a form, reflect on one or more of the following questions:
As individuals or as a form, reflect on one or more of the following questions:
- Can you remember a time when you turned to prayer during an important or difficult moment? What happened?
- How does prayer influence the choices you make each day?
- Where and when do you find it easiest to pray — and what makes it harder?
- Have you ever experienced a moment of peace, clarity, or strength after praying?
- How might the Holy Spirit be guiding you through prayer, even in small or ordinary moments?
- What can distract us from prayer, and what practical steps could help us build a stronger, more regular habit of speaking and listening to God?
In the comment section below…
Answer one of these questions together as a form.
Our CARE mission reminds us that prayer is at the heart of our school community.
Through prayer, we grow closer to God and to one another, learning to support, encourage, and uplift each person.
When we value prayer, we help create a community where everyone feels welcomed, supported, and truly belongs.
C – Community
Build a strong community by grounding your day in prayer.
Spend time with God in stillness, asking Him to bless your family, friends, and those in need.
Let prayer shape the way you treat others, helping you to act with kindness, patience, and understanding so that your community reflects God’s love.
A – Achieve
Challenge yourself to grow deeper in prayer.
Ask God for guidance, wisdom, and strength each day.
Prayer helps us grow when we are open, honest, and willing to listen to His voice.
R – Respect
Bring your relationships before God in prayer.
Ask Him to help you respect other people’s ideas, backgrounds, and beliefs, even when they are different from your own.
Through prayer, we learn to listen more carefully, speak more kindly, and treat everyone with dignity and compassion.
E – Encounter
Take time each day to encounter God personally in prayer and Scripture.
Invite the Holy Spirit to open your heart, to guide your thoughts, and to help you recognise God’s presence in every moment.
Through this daily encounter, may you grow in love, fairness, and compassion toward everyone you meet.

Here are some song suggestions that you could use this week
This week in school, our theme is Prayer.
Prayer reminds us that God is always close to us.
It is how we speak to Him, listen to Him, and grow in our relationship with Him.
Prayer can be quiet or spoken, joyful or thoughtful — but it always opens our hearts to God’s love.
Through prayer, we learn to trust God more deeply.
The Holy Spirit gently guides us when we pause, reflect, and invite God into our day.
Prayer strengthens us, brings peace to our hearts, and helps us to love others with patience and kindness.
When we make time for prayer, we are reminded that we are never alone.
God walks with us in every moment — in school, at home, and in all that we do.
Conversation Starters
Use these questions to start a chat together:
When do you find it easiest to pray — in the morning, at night, or during the day? Why?
What does prayer mean to you? Is it talking, listening, thanking, asking, or something else?
Can you think of a saint or holy person who was known for their prayer life?
What can we learn from their example?
What helps you feel peaceful or close to God when you pray?
Prayer
Loving God,
thank You for the gift of prayer,
which draws us closer to You each day.
Help us to make time to speak with You
and to listen for Your gentle voice in our hearts.
When we are joyful, help us to praise You.
When we are worried, help us to trust You.
When we are unsure, guide us with Your wisdom.
Send Your Holy Spirit
to teach us how to pray more deeply
and to fill our hearts with peace.
May our prayer shape our actions,
strengthen our faith,
and help us grow in love.
Amen.
Mission
Together, choose something to do:
Create a Prayer Space
Set up a small prayer space at home with a candle, cross, Bible, or special object. Spend a few quiet minutes there each day speaking and listening to God.
Try a “Pause and Pray” Moment
Choose one time each day — before school, before a meal, or before bed — to pause together for a short prayer of thanks or a simple intention.
Keep a Family Prayer Jar
Write prayers, worries, or thank-you notes to God on small pieces of paper and place them in a jar. At the end of the week, read some together and thank God for always listening.
