Loving God,
Jesus called people to follow him and learn from the way he lived.
Thank you for inviting us to be his disciples.
Help us to follow Jesus each day,

Sunday Gospel Reading John 1:29-34
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John
Glory to you O Lord
The next day he saw Jesus coming towards him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! This is he of whom I said, ‘After me comes a man who ranks before me, because he was before me.’ I myself did not know him, but for this purpose I came baptizing with water, that he might be revealed to Israel.” And John bore witness: “I saw the Spirit descend from heaven like a dove, and it remained on him. I myself did not know him, but he who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain, this is he who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’ And I have seen and have borne witness that this is the Son of God.”

Prayer Theme Scripture Matthew 28:18-20
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew
Glory to you O Lord
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Let us take some time today to respond and reflect on our theme of Discipleship

Follow me!
Jesus calls us to follow him and become his disciples
In your form, nominate one person to stand at the front. You are going to follow them in a game of ‘Simon says’.
If the leader says ‘Simon says do this’ you must copy what they do, but if they just say ‘do this’ you must not copy them.
Reflection
Pick one of the songs in the music tab to listen to.
As individuals or as a form, reflect on one or more of the following questions:
- Jesus called people to follow him and learn from the way he lived — what does it mean to be a disciple of Jesus in our everyday lives, especially at school?
- Discipleship is not something we do alone, but together with others — what does it mean to belong to a group that tries to live like Jesus, and how can we support one another in doing what is right?
- Jesus’ disciples were called to serve, love, and show kindness to others — how can we put discipleship into action this week through our words, choices, and actions in our school or wider community?
In the comment section below…
Answer one of these questions together as a form.
As we reflect on the call to Discipleship, we remember how Jesus invited people to follow him, learn from him, and live out his message of love in everyday life. As his disciples today, we are invited to walk in his footsteps through our choices, actions, and relationships.
C – Community
Discipleship is lived out together, not alone. Jesus gathered a community of followers who supported one another. This week, try to strengthen your sense of community. You could help someone new feel welcome at school, support a classmate who is struggling, or work positively as part of a group or team.
A – Achieve
Jesus encouraged his disciples to grow and use their gifts well. As disciples, we are called to do our best and keep learning. This week, focus on achieving something at school or in your personal life — improving in a subject, completing work responsibly, trying a new activity, or helping someone else succeed.
R – Respect
Disciples of Jesus are called to treat others with love and dignity. Practice showing respect through your words and actions. Listen carefully, be patient, and treat everyone with kindness — even when it is difficult or when you disagree.
E – Encounter
Discipleship invites us to encounter God in everyday moments. Look for ways God might be present this week — in nature, in a kind word from a friend, in helping someone in need, or in moments of quiet reflection.
You might like to create your own prayer on the theme of Discipleship that you have been reflecting on throughout the week, or you could use the prayer below.
Prayer
Loving Father,
You call us to follow Your Son, Jesus,
and to learn from the way he lived and loved.
Help us to be faithful disciples,
listening to Your voice,
guided by Your Spirit,
so that we may live with purpose
and share Your love with others.
Amen.
Here are some song suggestions that you could use this week
This week in school, our theme is Discipleship
Discipleship means choosing to follow Jesus and learn from the way he lived. Jesus invited ordinary people to walk with him, listen to his teaching, and put love into action. As disciples, we are called to grow in faith, support one another, and try to live like Jesus through our words, choices, and actions each day.
Conversation Starters
Use these questions to start a chat together
- Jesus asked his disciples to “follow me.” What do you think it means to follow Jesus today, especially at home, at school, or with friends?
- Discipleship is not something we do alone — who helps guide, support, or encourage you to do the right thing, and how can we be that support for others?
- Jesus’ disciples learned by watching how he treated people — what is one way we can show kindness, forgiveness, or service this week?
Prayer
Loving God,
You call each of us to follow Your Son, Jesus,
and to learn from the way He lived and loved.
Help us to listen to Your voice,
to care for one another,
and to live as true disciples in our daily lives.
Guide our words and actions,
so that others may see Your love through us.
Amen.
Mission
Together, choose something to do:
- As a family, talk about people who inspire you to live like Jesus — this could be someone in your family, school, parish, or community. Say a short prayer thanking God for these role models.
- Discipleship means helping others feel valued. This week, choose one way to support or encourage someone — include someone who feels left out, help a classmate, or show patience and kindness at home. Later, talk about how this made a difference.
- Jesus’ disciples tried to live out his message every day. As a family, pick one action to focus on this week (for example: listening more carefully, forgiving quickly, helping without being asked, or serving someone in need). At the end of the week, share how trying to live as disciples affected your family or school life.
