Sunday Gospel Reading Matthew 11:25-30
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew
Glory to you O Lord
At that time Jesus declared, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. Come to me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Prayer Theme Scripture Matthew 16:18-20
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew
Glory to you O Lord
And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” Then he strictly charged the disciples to tell no one that he was the Christ.

Let us take some time today to respond and reflect on our theme of Commission
Please pick one of the below sections to help you to respond to this week’s theme. Let us know how your form gets on in the comments below.
Lourdes Petitions
The countdown begins for Lourdes 2026
Students from CTK, and other secondary schools in our Trust, are getting ready to follow their commission to help the elderly and less able in Lourdes.
We invite you to write a prayer, either individually or as a form; these prayers can then be given to Beth or Vicky and will be taken with us to Lourdes and placed in the Grotto, where Mary appeared to Saint Bernadette.
What is your commission?
Have you ever thought about what your commission might be? Watch this short video from a previous team at The Briars and reflect on how God might be calling you to make a difference. Could this be your commission?
During this week, we have reflected on the importance of commission. Jesus commissioned His disciples to go out into the world and share the Good News, bringing hope, love, and peace to others. He calls each of us to use our gifts and talents to serve others and make a positive difference. By answering God’s call, we help to build a community that reflects His love and compassion.
C – Care
Commission begins with care. When we show kindness, compassion, and concern for others, we live out the mission Jesus has given us. Caring for one another is one of the simplest and most powerful ways to share God’s love.
A – Achieve
Commission encourages us to achieve our full potential by using the gifts and talents God has given us. When we work hard, serve others, and use our abilities for good, we help to fulfil the mission God has entrusted to us.
R – Respect
Commission calls us to respect every person as a child of God. By listening to others, valuing their ideas, and treating everyone with dignity, we reflect the love of Christ in all that we do.
E – Encounter
Through our encounters with others, we have opportunities to share God’s love through our words and actions. Jesus met people wherever they were and brought them hope and encouragement. We are called to do the same, making every encounter an opportunity to live out our mission.
Here are some song suggestions that you could use this week
This week in school, our theme is Commission
Commission means being given a special mission or purpose. After His Resurrection, Jesus commissioned His disciples to go into the world and share the Good News with everyone. This reminds us that we are all called to make a difference by sharing God’s love through our words and actions. Each of us has unique gifts and talents that God has given us to serve others and help build a world of peace, kindness, and hope.
Conversation Starters
Use these questions to start a chat together:
Jesus sent His disciples out with an important mission. Why do you think He trusted ordinary people to share His message?
We all have different gifts and talents. What gifts has God given each member of our family, and how can we use them to help others?
What is one way our family can make a positive difference in our school, parish, or local community this week?
Prayer
Father,
Thank You for giving each of us a purpose and a mission. Help us to use the gifts and talents You have given us to serve others with love, kindness, and generosity. Give us the courage to share Your message through the way we live each day, and remind us that even small acts of goodness can make a big difference. May we always be ready to answer Your call and bring hope to those around us.
Amen.
Mission
Together, choose something to do:
As a family, think of one way you can serve someone else this week. It could be helping a neighbour, supporting a local charity, or doing an unexpected act of kindness.
Talk about the gifts and talents each person in your family has. Choose one gift that each person can use this week to help someone else.
Create a family “mission” for the week. Decide on one simple way you will share God’s love together, then reflect at the end of the week on how your actions made a difference.
