Watch this video about the Art of Communication

Technology can be a powerful tool for communication, helping people stay connected, share ideas, and support one another across the world. However, when used without care, it can also create distance, reduce real conversations, and sometimes spread negativity instead of kindness and understanding.
Make a pros/cons list as a form on your whiteboard and reflect on any changes that you feel that you might need to make to improve your communications.

Pentecost – this will celebrated at the end of this week on Sunday 24th May

During this week, we have reflected on the importance of communication—how we connect with others through our words, actions, and listening. Communication helps us to build relationships, support one another, and share God’s love with the world. Every conversation is a chance to encourage, inspire, and bring people together.

C – Community
Good communication helps build a caring community where everyone feels included and valued. By encouraging and supporting one another, we help our school community grow stronger.

A – Achieve
Communication helps us achieve our potential by sharing ideas, asking for help, and encouraging others. Positive words can build confidence and inspire success.

R – Respect
Respectful communication means listening carefully, speaking kindly, and valuing the opinions of others. We are called to treat everyone with dignity and compassion.

E – Encounter
Every day brings opportunities to communicate God’s message through simple acts of kindness, encouragement, and understanding. Small words and actions can make a big difference.

In the month of May, we look to Mary, Mother of Jesus, as an example of good communication. Mary listened with faith, responded with courage, and showed kindness in the way she treated others. Her example reminds us that communication is not just about speaking, but also about listening and understanding.

Here are some song suggestions that you could use this week

This week in school, our theme is communication.

Communication can take many forms in the world today. It is a way of building relationships and sharing the good news of our faith with others. This week we are called to think about the different ways we can communicate God’s message to the world and how we can bring people together and inspire others through the message that we share

Conversation Starters

Use these questions to start a chat together:

  • How do we communicate with people every day? Think about texting, social media, phone calls, face-to-face conversations, and even body language. Which ways help people feel most valued and understood? Why?
  • What does it mean to share “good news” through our actions as well as our words?
Can you think of a time when someone’s kindness, encouragement, or forgiveness communicated God’s love more strongly than words alone?
  • Who is someone you admire because of the way they communicate with others?

Prayer

For all work in communications; may they listen with understanding and speak truth from the heart.
Lord, in your mercy…hear our prayer

For all of us who receive the news in whatever format; may we learn to discern the good news in all that we hear.
Lord, in your mercy…hear our prayer

We pray for all those in the Church who communicate to others, through multiple means, the saving truth of the gospel, that they may be diligent servants of the Word and conscientious champions of the truth. Lord in your mercy…hear our prayer

Mission

Together, choose something to do:

  • As a family, choose some people who might need support this week — a neighbour, teacher, grandparent, friend, or someone at church. Write a kind message, make a phone call, or send a thoughtful text to encourage them and remind them they are valued.
  • Set aside one evening with no phones or distractions and spend time really listening to one another. Each family member could share something important about their week while everyone else listens without interrupting. Focus on how good communication begins with listening.
  • Challenge your family to use only positive and uplifting communication for one whole day. Give compliments, say thank you often, avoid complaining, and encourage one another whenever possible. At the end of the day, discuss how positive words changed the atmosphere at home and how they can inspire others.
