CTK – Support- Prayer Resources – W/C 07/07/2025
Hello everyone, and welcome back to CTKPray. The prayer theme for this week is Support.
Season of Ordinary Time
In our faith journey, we are not meant to walk alone. We find support in the
sacraments, in prayer, and in the community of believers. We can turn to
our priests, deacons, religious, and fellow parishioners for guidance,
encouragement, and fellowship. We can find comfort in knowing that we
are not alone, that others have walked this path before us, and that God is
always with us. We are called to offer support to each other, building each
other up in faith and love.
God provides us with companions for the road: people who guide, encourage, and challenge us to grow. And just as we receive support, we are also called to give it—to listen, to pray for one another, to stand together in difficult times, and to rejoice together in God’s goodness.
Ordinary Time teaches us that it’s often in the everyday moments—at home, at school, at work—where true support shines. A simple act of kindness, a quiet prayer, or a helping hand can be a powerful expression of God’s love.
Let’s use this season to be more aware of the support we receive, and more intentional about the support we give. Together, we grow stronger in faith, hope, and love—knowing that God is always with us and that we are never alone.
Below you will find the weekly readings from Sunday’s mass and scriptures taken from the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament on the theme of Support.
If you would like to explore your own scriptures, the link below will take you to open bible which allows you to explore scripture on any theme.

First reading Isaiah 66:10-14
“Rejoice with Jerusalem, and be glad for her,
all you who love her;
rejoice with her in joy,
all you who mourn over her;
that you may nurse and be satisfied
from her consoling breast;
that you may drink deeply with delight
from her glorious abundance.”
For thus says the Lord:
“Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river,
and the glory of the nations like an overflowing stream;
and you shall nurse, you shall be carried upon her hip,
and bounced upon her knees.
As one whom his mother comforts,
so I will comfort you;
you shall be comforted in Jerusalem.
You shall see, and your heart shall rejoice;
your bones shall flourish like the grass;
and the hand of the Lord shall be known to his servants,
and he shall show his indignation against his enemies.
Gospel Reading Luke 10:1-12, 17-20
After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them on ahead of him, two by two, into every town and place where he himself was about to go. And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into his harvest. Go your way; behold, I am sending you out as lambs in the midst of wolves. Carry no money bag, no knapsack, no sandals, and greet no one on the road. Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace be to this house!’ And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest upon him. But if not, it will return to you. And remain in the same house, eating and drinking what they provide, for the labourer deserves his wages. Do not go from house to house. Whenever you enter a town and they receive you, eat what is set before you. Heal the sick in it and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ But whenever you enter a town and they do not receive you, go into its streets and say, ‘Even the dust of your town that clings to our feet we wipe off against you. Nevertheless know this, that the kingdom of God has come near.’ I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town
The seventy-two returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!” And he said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”
Hebrew Bible Nahum 1:7
The Lord is good,
a stronghold in the day of trouble;
he knows those who take refuge in him.
New Testament Matthew 7: 7-12
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
“So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
Visio Divina, meaning “Divine Seeing,” is a form of prayer in the Catholic Church that involves contemplating religious images or art to encounter God. It is similar to Lectio Divina (sacred reading), but instead of focusing on scripture, the participant meditates on visual representations, such as icons, paintings, or stained glass. The process usually involves several steps: gazing at the image, meditating on its meaning, praying in response to what is seen, and contemplating how the image speaks to one’s life. This practice deepens spiritual insight and fosters a connection with the divine through sacred imagery.

Your mission this week is to…
Write a message of support for someone who is facing a challenge this
week. Give the message to them to help them know you are there.
And if you are facing something difficult this week, please remember: you are not alone. God is with you, and so is your faith community. We are called to support one another, especially in tough times. This week, take a moment to pray, breathe, and trust that God is working in your life, even if you can’t see it yet.
Let us pray:
Lord, be with me – give me the courage to face today and the peace to trust in Your plan.
Help me to notice those around me who need support, and show me how to be there for them.
Thank You for never leaving my side.
Amen.
