CTK -Missionary Discipleship- Prayer Resources – W/C 30/06/2025
Hello everyone, and welcome back to CTKPray. The prayer theme for this week is Missionary discipleship.
Season of Ordinary Time
Ordinary Time in the Church calendar may sound “ordinary,” but it’s actually a time full of opportunity—a time to grow in our faith and live out what we’ve learned in the seasons of Christmas and Easter. It’s during these everyday moments that we’re called to follow Jesus most closely.
As missionary disciples, we are not just followers of Jesus; we are also sent by Him to share His love with others. This means living our faith in simple, real ways—by being kind, helping those in need, standing up for what is right, and showing others the joy and hope that come from knowing God.
We don’t need a big stage or special occasion to make a difference. Ordinary Time reminds us that God works through our daily lives—at school, at home, with friends, and even in quiet moments. Every act of love and every choice to follow Jesus becomes part of our mission.
Let’s use this time to grow closer to Him, listen for His voice in prayer, and find new ways to bring His light to the people around us.
Below you will find the weekly readings from Sunday’s mass and scriptures taken from the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament on the theme of Missionary discipleship.
If you would like to explore your own scriptures, the link below will take you to open bible which allows you to explore scripture on any theme.

First reading Acts 12:1–11
1 About that time Herod the king laid violent hands on some who belonged to the church.
2 He killed James the brother of John with the sword,
3 and when he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to arrest Peter also. This was during the days of Unleavened Bread.
4 And when he had seized him, he put him in prison, delivering him over to four squads of soldiers to guard him, intending after the Passover to bring him out to the people.
5 So Peter was kept in prison, but earnest prayer for him was made to God by the church.
6 Now when Herod was about to bring him out, on that very night, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries before the door were guarding the prison.
7 And behold, an angel of the Lord stood next to him, and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him, saying, “Get up quickly.” And the chains fell off his hands.
8 And the angel said to him, “Dress yourself and put on your sandals.” And he did so. And he said to him, “Wrap your cloak around you and follow me.”
9 And he went out and followed him. He did not know that what was being done by the angel was real, but thought he was seeing a vision.
10 When they had passed the first and the second guard, they came to the iron gate leading into the city. It opened for them of its own accord, and they went out and went along one street, and immediately the angel left him.
Gospel Reading Matthew 16:13–19
13 Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”
14 And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
16 Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
17 And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar‑Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.
18 And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
Hebrew Bible Psalm 105:1–6
1 Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name;
make known his deeds among the peoples!
2 Sing to him, sing praises to him;
tell of all his wondrous works!
3 Glory in his holy name;
let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice!
4 Seek the Lord and his strength;
seek his presence continually!
5 Remember the wondrous works that he has done,
his miracles, and the judgments he uttered,
6 O offspring of Abraham, his servant,
children of Jacob, his chosen ones!
New Testament Mark 16:14–16
14 Afterward he appeared to the eleven themselves as they were reclining at table, and he rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they had not believed those who saw him after he had risen.
15 And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.
16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
Visio Divina, meaning “Divine Seeing,” is a form of prayer in the Catholic Church that involves contemplating religious images or art to encounter God. It is similar to Lectio Divina (sacred reading), but instead of focusing on scripture, the participant meditates on visual representations, such as icons, paintings, or stained glass. The process usually involves several steps: gazing at the image, meditating on its meaning, praying in response to what is seen, and contemplating how the image speaks to one’s life. This practice deepens spiritual insight and fosters a connection with the divine through sacred imagery.

Your mission this week is to…
Find a way to put your faith into action this week to help others to Encounter Jesus
As we go forth today, may we carry the call to missionary discipleship in our hearts—living as people sent by Christ, gathered in His love, and empowered to be His hands and voice in the world. Let our lives reflect the mission we have received: a communion of hearts, a journey of grace, and a call to self-giving love. May every path we walk and every person we meet be touched by the presence of Christ in us.
Let us pray:
Lord Jesus,
You have called us to be Your disciples—
to follow You and to share Your love with the world.
Thank You for trusting us with this mission.
Fill our hearts with courage and compassion
so we can live as Your witnesses each day.
When we speak, may our words bring hope.
When we act, may our kindness reflect You.
Help us to see the needs around us,
and give us the grace to respond with love.
Teach us to walk with others,
to listen, to serve, and to lead with humility.
May our lives show that we are Your disciples—
sent to bring light, peace, and joy to the world.
Amen.
