CTK – Identity – Prayer Resources

Hello everyone, welcome back to CTKPray. The prayer theme for this week is IDENTITY.

Identity is the sense of who we are as individuals. It is shaped by our experiences, our beliefs, and our relationships. In the Catholic faith, our identity is rooted in our relationship with God. We are created in the image and likeness of God, and we are called to be his children and to respect the dignity of all people.

This Sunday we entered into the twenty-fourth week in Ordinary time.
Ordinary Time in the Catholic Church refers to the liturgical period outside of the major seasons of Advent, Christmas, Lent, and Easter. It is a time of growth and reflection on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, rather than a specific event like His birth or resurrection. The name “Ordinary” comes from the Latin word “ordo,” meaning “order,” referring to the numbered weeks that make up this season.

This week we celebrate:

Saint Cornelius Monday 16th September
Saint Januarius Thursday 19th September
Saints Andrew Kim Taegon and Paul Chong Hasang Friday 20th September
Saint Matthew Saturday 21st September

The colour we use during this time of year is green to show growth.

Please note that the responses in red are for everyone to join in with.

Visio Divina, meaning “Divine Seeing,” is a form of prayer in the Catholic Church that involves contemplating religious images or art to encounter God. It is similar to Lectio Divina (sacred reading), but instead of focusing on scripture, the participant meditates on visual representations, such as icons, paintings, or stained glass. The process usually involves several steps: gazing at the image, meditating on its meaning, praying in response to what is seen, and contemplating how the image speaks to one’s life. This practice deepens spiritual insight and fosters a connection with the divine through sacred imagery.

Take a selfie doing something that you love and that says something about who you are.

Heavenly Father,
We thank You for the gift of our unique identities, created in Your image. Help us to embrace who we are, to love ourselves as You love us, and to celebrate the gifts and talents You’ve placed within us.
Guide us, Lord, as we grow in wisdom, faith, and understanding, so that we may become the best versions of ourselves, serving others with humility and love.
May we always remember that our true identity is found in You.
Through Christ our Lord,
Amen.
