Lourdes Petitions
The countdown begins for Lourdes 2026
Students from CTK, and other secondary schools in our Trust, are getting ready to follow their calling to help the elderly and less able in Lourdes.
We invite you to write a prayer, either individually or as a form; these prayers can then be given to Beth or Vicky and will be taken with us to Lourdes and placed in the Grotto, where Mary appeared to Saint Bernadette.

When Jesus called his disciples to follow him –
Following our calling
Watch this video, then reflect on which path God might be calling you to follow…
During this week, we have reflected on the importance of following. Jesus calls us to follow Him by living with faith, love, and kindness. Through His example, He shows us how to make good choices, care for others, and grow closer to God. By following Jesus’ teachings, we help to build a community where everyone feels supported, valued, and encouraged to do what is right.
C – Community
Following Jesus helps us to build a strong community. When we follow His example of love, service, and kindness, we create a place where everyone feels welcomed, supported, and valued as part of God’s family.
A – Achieve
Following Jesus helps us achieve our full potential. By listening to His teachings and using the gifts and talents God has given us, we can grow in confidence, make positive choices, and achieve great things.
R – Respect
Following Jesus means showing respect to everyone we meet. We listen to others, value their differences, and treat each person with dignity, recognising that all people are created and loved by God.
E – Encounter
Through our encounters with others, we have opportunities to follow Jesus’ example of compassion and understanding. Jesus met people from all walks of life and welcomed them with love. We are called to do the same, building friendships and helping others feel they belong.
Here are some song suggestions that you could use this week
This week in school, our theme is Follow.
Following is about choosing to walk in the footsteps of Jesus and living according to His teachings. Jesus showed us how to live with faith, kindness, compassion, and love. By following His example, we learn to make good choices, care for others, and grow closer to God. When we follow Jesus, we help to build a community where everyone feels supported, respected, and encouraged to be their best.
Conversation Starters
Use these questions to start a chat together:
Jesus asked His disciples to follow Him and learn from His example. What do you think it means to follow Jesus in our daily lives today?
Who is someone you look up to and enjoy following as a role model? What qualities do they have that inspire you?
Following Jesus often means helping others and making good choices. What are some ways we can follow His example at home, at school, or in our community?
Prayer
Father,
Thank You for sending Jesus to show us the way to live. Help us to follow His example in all that we do. Guide us to make wise choices, show kindness to others, and live with faith and courage. Teach us to follow Your path each day and to encourage others through our words and actions. May we grow closer to You as we walk in the footsteps of Jesus.
Amen.
Mission
Together, choose something to do:
Make a special effort this week to follow Jesus’ example of kindness. Look for opportunities to help someone, offer encouragement, or show compassion to a person in need.
As a family, talk about someone whose example inspires you. Discuss what you can learn from them and how their actions help you to make positive choices.
Choose one teaching of Jesus, such as loving your neighbour, forgiving others, or helping those in need. As a family, try to put that teaching into action during the week and share your experiences together.
Below you will find this week’s Gospel reading from Sunday’s mass and another piece of scripture on our prayer theme.

Sunday Gospel Reading Matthew 10:37-42
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew
Glory to you O Lord
Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
“Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me. The one who receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and the one who receives a righteous person because he is a righteous person will receive a righteous person’s reward. And whoever gives one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward.”

Prayer Theme Scripture Luke 5:1-11
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew
Glory to you O Lord
On one occasion, while the crowd was pressing in on him to hear the word of God, he was standing by the lake of Gennesaret, and he saw two boats by the lake, but the fishermen had gone out of them and were washing their nets. Getting into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, he asked him to put out a little from the land. And he sat down and taught the people from the boat. And when he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” And Simon answered, “Master, we toiled all night and took nothing! But at your word I will let down the nets.” And when they had done this, they enclosed a large number of fish, and their nets were breaking. They signalled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord.” For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish that they had taken, and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men.” And when they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed him.
